Unfortunately, these practices have had many negative environmental impacts, and over fishing is considered to be the main cause of ecosystem damage in many aquatic systems.
The Impacts Of Fishing
One of the main consequences of industrial fishing is that some species are almost extinct. Perhaps the most famous example is the Atlantic salmon. 17th-century people said that the northwest Atlantic has many corals that can go to the sea. Catfish fishing is the basis of the New England economy. Many people ride on their kayaks under 1000 and use their fishing rods for a living. In the 1960s, new technologies like radar and sonar were deeper than fishermen.
Over the next few decades, large-eg landings began to increase sharply, but in the 1990s the fishery shrank rapidly. Other than Newfoundland, the world’s largest salmon fishery, salmon biomass is estimated to have declined by over 99%. Six other Canadian coastal resources have reduced biomass by more than 75%. 2 The number of fish is so small that Canada can suspend salmon fishing to restore resources.
